Date night, on a whole new level.

Brooklyn is 5.5 and the most thoughtful child I have ever met... Sometimes she just amazes me.

I just came upstairs to find her in my room. I was prepared to yell at her for playing in my makeup or whatever mischief she was likely up to.

Instead, she grabs my hand and says "cmon, Mom!" And pulls me into the room. I find a beautiful purple satin dress of mine laid out on the bed. Next to it is a purple dress shirt of Adams. Before I could ask, she offered, "since your birthday was kinda not-fun and we didn't get you any presents, I wanted to do something special to celebrate it and I know mommy-daddy date time is what you would want. You guys never get to go dance anymore, So I'm going to watch my sisters tonight and I am making your room into a special dance party with lights, candles, music..... " She flashes me a huge grin and said, "Now help me find Dad some pants!"

She even blew up a purple balloon and offered to style my hair. I couldn't resist her adorable scheme... so tonight Adam and I will do everything outlined for our date from our 5 year old psychiatrist - and dress to the nines to stay home and drink wine as we slow dance to her carefully chosen 'kids bop' mix.

5 years old and more knowledge on how to keep a marriage strong than most grow ups.... I am one proud Mama.
